2022 General Elections in Kenya: UDA & Azimio La Umoja Presidential Aspirants to Name Deputies

Presidential candidates and governors have until Monday, May 16, 2022, to declare their deputies. Temperatures are high because the running mates will determine victory in the fast approaching August General Elections in Kenya.

The dilemma surrounding suitable choices in various parties is already causing political tension among supporters.

Deputy Presidents for 2022 General Elections in Kenya

Kenya Kwanza and Azimio La Umoja coalitions are particularly on the spot owing to their exceeding influence in the country.

Luckily, the ongoing war on suitable candidates for Raila Odinga and DP William Ruto is nearly over.

Martha Karua – NARC-Kenya leader
Charity Ngilu – NARC leader
Sabina Chege – Muranga Women Rep
Peter Kenneth – Former Gatanga MP
Peter Munya – CS Agriculture
Wycliffe Oparanya – Kamamega governor
Hassan Joho – Mombasa governor
Lee Kinyanjui – Nakuru governor
Stephen Kipkiyeny Tarus – National Liberal Party

On his side, KANU Chairman Gideon Moi dropped his candidature in favour of Kalonzo Musyoka.

In the final shortlist are Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and Peter Kenneth.

Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance deputy selection panel of 7 chaired by Noah Wekesa said Raila will announce his running mate on Sunday.

On the other hand, UDA Party leader William Ruto is set to choose between Kithure Kindiki and Rigathi Gachagua for the position of running mate.

Meanwhile, Wa Iria has picked Alfyo Onyambu from Kisii County as his running mate.
