Kenyans were on Thursday evening plunged into darkness following a nationwide power outage. The incident which happened at exactly 5:40 pm is highly concerning. Consumers are at a standoff even as KPLC explains power outages.
Majority of users among them individuals and corporates were left stranded with most operations coming to a standstill.
KPLC explains Power Outage
Kenya Power faced a strong backlash while attempting to justify the outage.
Majority accuse the power monopoly of switching off the grid at the first drop of rain. On the other side, the power man says “a system fault on the grid” caused the outage.
“We have experienced a system fault on the grid resulting in a power outage in most parts of the country.”

The statement further read;
“We regret any inconvenience caused and urge our customers to be patient as we work to restore normal power supply as soon as possible.”

Elsewhere, a similar incident was experienced on August 25, 2023 and December 10, 2023.
Attempts by the Kenya Power Company to redeem itself from the ongoing backlash are still futile.
