Omtatah started schooling at Kwang’aru Primary School in 1971. He later attended St. Peters School in Mukumu only to sit for his KCSE exams in 1981. In 1983, Omtatah cleared his Form 6 studies at Tudunyo College.

The education-thirsty Omtatah qualified to join the University of Nairobi for a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Commerce. Instead, he enrolled at St. Augustine inย Mabanga, Bungoma for a Diploma in Philosophy.

He later became an activist upon joining the Kenya Polytechnic University for a two-year diploma in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering.
