President Ruto Kisii Tour spanning 3 days kicked off on Thursday morning. The Head of State is expected to visit neighbouring counties such as Nyamira and Migori.
Speaking to the press, statehouse spokesperson Mr Hussein Mohamed confirmed what President Ruto intends to do in Nyanza. Expectations are running high, being his first time since assuming office as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. The veteran journalist spoke on Wednesday while witnessing the distribution of subsidized fertilizer at the Kisii National Cereals and Produce Board offices.

The top priorities of the underway presidential visit to Nyanza include promoting the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation agenda through infrastructural projects.
Enlisted below are the core agendas of President Ruto Kisii Tour;
- Inspecting and commissioning the Kegati Water project in Kisii
- Launching the upgrade of the 33.3 Km Gekano-Rigoma-Amabuko Road
- Upgrading of Nyabohanse–Kumumwamu road and Nyaburu-Oboke-Ragwe road
The president is to make a major stopover at the Kisii National Polytechnic and thereafter preside over the launching of more projects in Kuria East and West constituencies in Migori County
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is expected to accompany Dr Ruto in a 3-day working tour set to end on Saturday with CS Ezekiel Machogu’s homecoming party.
Among the leaders who welcomed the president is Okeng’o Nyambane, currently a director of the Communication Authority of Kenya.

Also excited about the presidential visit is Kisii County Assembly Speaker Phillip Nyanumba.

The visit comes within days of strategic appointments that saw retired Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi becoming Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary.
Former West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi became CAS for Trade and Industry and Millicent Omanga Interior CAS.
The Head of State also appointed former Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack John Mose as the Solicitor General.
President Ruto Kisii tour comes at a time when Azimio leader Raila Odinga is at a standoff with the government for among other reasons, the escalating cost of living.
