Ida is an alumna of Ogande Girls High School and the University of Nairobi where she pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Education Art graduating in 1974.

In her teaching career at Kenya High, she taught the late Bomet County Governor Joyce Laboso.

Raila’s persistent disagreement with Moi’s KANU regime ended with Mama Ida being sacked from her teaching profession.

As a result, Ida initiated the league of Kenyan women voters in 1991. This activist group for women with an interest in politics would spur women rights in the 90s and later years.

Since 2003, Ida has been concentrating as a managing director at the East African Spectre family company.
