‘JKUAT Student Commits Suicide’ is a heartbreaking story of a jobless first-class graduate who took away his life because of unemployment. The deceased Michael Kibet allegedly graduated in 2021.

Searching for employment in vain for a couple of years caused the 26 years old Michael to take away his life. He was found dead at the matrimonial home in Kapsongoro Village, Nandi County.

Michael Kibet who scored A plain from Meteitei Boys High School in Tinderet Nandi ended up jobless after attaining a First Class honours degree in ICT and Telecommunication from JKUAT.

Area Chief David Rugut stated that the frustrated Kibet hanged himself within the compound of his elder brother.

“We are really saddened by the loss of Michael. He was a hardworking and disciplined boy in our location. He ended his life out of frustration according to his brother.

The locals were really shocked by his demise. Many didn’t believe as he has been a very humble boy and very responsible.”

His body has since been moved to Samaritan Funeral Home in Kapsabet awaiting burial.

Stress and depression-related cases of suicide continue to take centre stage.

“We didn’t know he was going through issues. Whenever he was facing a problem, he would tell us.”

Experts insist that students should be prepared to face real life as opposed to career dependency.
