Kenyatta High School established before independence is located at Kagere area in Mahiga Location of Nyeri South district, along Nyeri Othaya Road.
Its founders were Mau Mau fighters, the reason why it was temporarily deregistered by colonial sympathizers in 1952.
Initially called Kagere High School, the secondary school was renamed Kenyatta High School (Mahiga) in 1965.
