Back in 2017, a furious little-known woman dragged the Deputy President of Kenya to the court of law decrying child neglect. She would go on to document uncomfortable details of how Dr. Ruto tricked and impregnated her. In an affidavit submitted by veteran lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, Prisca Chemutai intimated her sweet moments turned bitter after a brief romance with Ruto. She said Ruto tricked and impregnated her while he was serving as a Member of Parliament in Eldoret North.

President Ruto and his baby mama met in 2005 while Chemutai was an ongoing student at Moi University.

Chemutai says a mutual friend introduced her to Ruto while he was a legislature in the National Assembly.

Following several advances, Ruto managed to steal Chemutai’s heart. In her defence, Chemutai told the court that she was at the time young and naive.

Chemutai would deliver Ruto’s child Abby Chepruto on March 6th, 2006.

Court files allege that Ruto who had earlier agreed to support his daughter stopped soon after. Part of her demands includes the following monthly allowances.

On top of that, Chemutai wrote to the court demanding the following from Ruto.

• Adequate medical cover
• School fees from daughter Abby
• Decent car for transportation to school
• Security cover for the minor
• Cost of the lawsuit itself

After weeks of heated criticism, Ruto broke the silence through his official Twitter account.

He cleared the air by admitting he has a child out of wedlock.  He went on to decorate himself as a responsible father.

According to Blogger Robert Alai (turned Kileleshwa MCA in 2022), Chemutai was a mother of three other children at the point of filing the suit.

“So DP Ruto had a baby with Prisca Chemutai Bett. The same Prisca Bett later had 3 other babies with different men. Ruto later helped her find a job where she is being paid Ksh 180,000 and the DP is paying for the child Ksh 200,000 per semester in a private school.
Ladies, please get serious. Some of these things can be avoided.”

The controversial lawsuit eventually disappeared without clear traces of its final rulings.
