CA report indicates that 47 percent of Kenyans are active WhatsApp users making the platform 5the second most used after Facebook.

Analysts say that WhatsApp usage fell by 0.3 percent to 47 percent in the first quarter of 2024 following the ouster of its counterfeits.

Overall, YouTube, Instagram, X, and TikTok are the most improved in usage.

The 2024 Global Digital Report by media monitoring firm Meltwater indicates that Kenyans spend more time on social media every day than any other country in the world; with a daily average of 223 minutes.

On the other hand, the Kenya Time Use Report of 2021 published by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) also reveals that Kenyans spend about 234 minutes daily on non-productive work like communication, socializing, and mass-media use.

Analysts attribute the declining numbers of WhatsApp users among Kenyans to the restrictive nature of the parent app.
