The list of senior Kenyan politicians with questionable bachelor’s degree is becoming longer even as the August Polls draws nearer. Lately in the mix is Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja education background.
The law requires a bachelor’s degree minimum for all Kenyans seeking to become president, governors, and senators. It is unfortunate to learn that a section of veteran politicians does not have valid degrees.
Senator Johnson Sakaja education background
Born on February 2nd, 1985, at Mosoriot in Nandi County, Sakaja Johnson Arthur age is 37 years as of 2022. On that note, Sakaja is from the Kalenjin tribe in Rift Valley.
He started schooling at Aga Khan primary school. He later joined Lenana high school for his secondary school education.
While at Lenana, Sakaja served as a Law Society Vice-Chairman. In addition, he was a school coordinator of all prefects.
His oratory abilities often stood out in debates and public speaking contests. Similarly, his piece “My Country Kenya” sailed him to the highest ranks at National Music Festival.
Joining the University of Nairobi instead of Harvard University
Johnson Sakaja was among the lucky few picked for higher learning at Harvard University.
He was particularly selected for his sharp brain and excellent grades in national exams.
Sadly, he missed the opportunity because his parents could not afford his ticket and tuition fees in the United States of America.
In the end, Sakaja was admitted to the University of Nairobi for a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. His love for math compelled him to change the course to Actuarial Science.
While at UoN, Sakaja successfully campaigned to become SONU chairman. The opportunity exposed him to profitable business and Kenyan politics.
By the time Sakaja was in his fourth year at campus, he had an apartment at Yaya Centre and a dream car Mercedes Benz.
Speaking to Daniel Ndambuki of Churchill Show, Sakaja intimated that he acquired the car from Moses Wetangula in 2007 at a friendly price of Ksh. 500,000.
Further sources say Sakaja enrolled at Team University, Uganda in 2012 graduating in 2016.
The latest findings have clarified that he is neither a graduate of Team University nor UoN.
Did Sakaja graduate from the University of Nairobi?
A report published on Kenyans.co.ke claims that Sen Johnston Sakaja is a dropout and not an alumna of Nairobi University as earlier indicated.
The university management indicate that Sakaja did not complete his course of study.
“It is true Sakaja was admitted to the university and was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science, studied from the first year up to the fourth year, but is yet to graduate.
The university earlier issued a statement and was clear that the person in question did not complete his studies.”
John Orindi, UoN Communications Director.
Draft transcripts shared online points that Actuarial Science was too tough for Sakaja.
Even worse, the Team University degree used to clear Sakaja’s name for the gubernatorial race has since been disputed.
Super Senator Johnson Sakaja education background remains in the balance amid speculations that he may miss out in the much-contested Nairobi City Gubernatorial Race. Meanwhile, DP Ruto could not control himself from throwing a shade at Raila Odinga’s academic merits.
