Note that Kenya Power’s customer care number is not toll-free. Standard call charges will be incurred depending on your phone service provider and calling plan.

How do I check if my KPLC token is delayed?

KPLC tokens delay happens when a customer experiences a delay in receiving the prepaid electricity tokens after payment. Delays often arise due to network congestion when a large volume of token requests are made or a slight technical issue.

Alternatively, one can wait patiently for the tokens for about 10 to 20 minutes.

Using USSD

  1. Dial KPLC USSD code *977# using your Safaricom line
  2. Select the first option- “Prepaid services” and on the following menu choose “Latest Token”
  3. Enter your metre number then press “Ok”

Remember that it will cost you airtime of Ksh.10 to receive a message of your latest metre tokens. 

Using the KPLC Self-service app

The app allows you to manage all info relating to your electricity account from anywhere. Some services you can access include prepaid token purchase, latest token inquiry and prepaid metre complaints & suggestions.

Follow the steps below to solve your token delay using the KPLC app.

  1. Download and install the app
  2. Once opened, select “My Bill/My Token” from the list of menus
  3. Select “Account Reference and Meter Number”
  4. Enter your 11-digit meter number and tap on the search icon.

Your actions will be summarised in a table containing details of your last five transactions. Your latest token will be at the top of the list.
