The history of JKUAT University dates back to the early 80s when higher learning institutions were few and precious in the country. Initially, a constituent college of Kenyatta University, the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology is lately a full-fledged varsity.

1. Founding in 1981 as JKUCAT

Jomo Kenyatta University College of Agriculture and Technology (JKUCAT) was founded as a constituent college of Kenyatta University.

2. Upgrade to degree programs in 1988

JKUCAT gained autonomy as a college and began offering degree programs within 7 years of its establishment.
