When was Maasai Mara University started? Initially called Narok University College, MMU existed in 2007 as a constituent college of Moi University.

The institution has since prospered in both infrastructural development and innovation.

1. Establishment in 2007 as a constituent college of Moi University

Maasai Mara University was first established as Narok University College on 16 July 2008, as a constituent college of Moi University.

Before then, it existed as Moi University Narok Town Campus.

2. MMU chartered in 2013

Maasai Mara University was chartered on February 12, 2013, following the enactment of the University Act of 2012.

Until then, the university operated as a Constituent College of Moi University through the Legal Order No. 101 of July 2008.

With this change, the institution gained the authority to offer its degree programs independently of Moi University.

3. Development and growth

Since its establishment, Maasai Mara University has grown both in terms of infrastructure and academic offerings.
