Ukrainian foreign minister described Putin’s attack as the most blatant act of aggression in Europe since World War II.

A list of possible reasons why President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine are finally out;

Putin is against NATO and the EU controlling Ukraine

President Putin is openly determined to restore the “Historical Russia” which was allegedly dismembered in December 1991; following a fatal collapse of the Soviet Union.

Ukraine’s unwavering support for both the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) seems to disturb Putin a great deal.

“Let’s imagine Ukraine is a NATO member and starts these military operations. Are we supposed to go to war with the NATO Bloc? Has anyone given that any thought? Apparently not.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putin is unhappy that modern Ukraine established by communist Russia is now an ally of western powers.

The European Union and NATO members hitting back at Russia

In response to the attack, several first world powers such as Britain, the US, Canada, the EU, Australia, Japan, and Taiwan have declared sanctions on Russia.

Joe Biden has declared full support for NATO and its allies.

“The prayers of the entire world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they suffer an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces. President Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering. Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The world will hold Russia accountable.”

Joe Biden who expressed a great interest in the war declared support for NATO and its allies.

“I will be monitoring the situation from the White House this evening and will continue to get regular updates from my national security team. Tomorrow, I will meet with my G7 counterparts in the morning and then speak to the American people to announce the further consequences the United States and our Allies and partners will impose on Russia for this needless act of aggression against Ukraine and global peace and security. We will also coordinate with our NATO Allies to ensure a strong, united response that deters any aggression against the Alliance. Tonight, Jill and I are praying for the brave and proud people of Ukraine.”

Global affairs analysts who have spoken on camera insist that it is hard to predict Putin’s mind because he is a man of wild ambitions.

A territorial power struggle is part of the main reasons why Russia attacked Ukraine after months of surrounding its territories intending to demilitarise its government.
