Jimmy Wanjigi Education, University Degree and Academic Qualifications

Jimmy Wanjigi education background is a huge debate following the sudden cancellation of his presidential dreams in 2022. Even so, the headstrong Safina Party leader continues to tackle his political rivals.

IEBC chairman Wanyonyi Wafula Chebukati defended the impartial decision saying the aspirant failed to submit proper academic credentials. On the other hand, Wanjigi decried favoritism and political frictions. But then, how learned is Jimi Wanjigi?

Jimmy Wanjigi education background

Born in 1962, Jimmy Richard Wanjigi attended the Nairobi-based St. Mary’s School.

Schoolmates in this prestigious Secondary School include former President Uhuru Kenyatta, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, and Gideon Moi.

And now, Jimi Wanjigi is an alumna of Daystar University where he pursued an economics-related course.

In 1982, Wanjigi enrolled in business studies at York University graduating in 1986. He has since amassed a multimillion-dollar business empire.

Wanjigi is a family man with a beautiful spouse Irene Nzisa and a couple of children schooling at the prestigious Institute Le Rosey in Switzerland.

Elsewhere, Wanjigi’s father Maina Wanjigi was a Cabinet Secretary and Member of Parliament in Kamukunji.

IEBC rejecting Jimmy Wanjigi’s papers

In 2022, IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati accused Wanjigi of not producing an undergraduate degree required when clearing a presidential aspirant.

According to Chebukati, Wanjigi only presented academic transcripts from his ongoing classwork instead of a degree certificate.

Further sources have intimated that Wanjigi was an ongoing student at Daystar University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations and Security Studies.

A confidential letter from the institution told Chebukati that Jimmy Wanjigi was set to graduate in December 2022.

The second reason for canceling his candidature is failure to meet the deadline of submitting a minimum of 48,000 signatures from at least 24 counties.

He only managed to submit the expected signatures from 23 counties, thereby, missing the mark by one county.

Equally knocked from the August Polls is Hon Irungu Kang’ata because of a running mate glitch.
